Crop circles 2009  THE SILBURY HILL ENIGMA

On July 4th 2009 after a few years of absentism I arrived in England to spend a few weeks in 'crop circle country'.

I considered Silbury Hill being the perfect place to start my holidays and at the end of the morning of July 5th I arrived,

parked the car and took a look at the oldest and biggest man-made mound in (England?) (Europe?) (the world?).

Returning to the car I saw people walking through the tramlines in the field across the road.

My heart started to beat faster........would there be any chance that.............?

I made my way into the field, asking the few people who came back what was happening there.

Among them was Gary King and I remember greeting him with the words, sceptic as I will ever be:

"I heard there is a beautiful crop circle over there, congratulations, you did a good job probably".

If he made it I don't know but in the night of the 5th of July the 'Mayan Headdress' came down.

Arriving on the top of the field the size, the lay and the crispness of the crop circle impressed me but I could not guess what was the design. I took many photographs, four of which you can see here.

At the end of the day I saw the arial photographs of this beautiful crop formation on www.cropcircleconnector.com.

One photograph however contains something I don't have an explanation for: in the left upper corner you can see a women standing and left of her between the tips of the stalks something white...a white ball....snowwhite....shining.....a ball of light?

I can't remember that I have seen the woman nor the ball when I took the photograph.

The first time I saw the ball was when I reviewed the photo's later in the day.

I have shown the image to several people and have sent it to professional photographers with the question what it was.

Nobody could give me a satisfying answer: they just don't know.

I have regarded several options: somebody in white trousers or dress, bending over to study the crop or lacing shoes or bending over to pray(!?), a beachball, even bad pixels but these explanations don't satisfy me.

I don't have much experience with photo-editing but next you will see some edited images of above photograph.

First I zoomed in on the lady and the 'ball of light'

Then I zoomed in on the 'ball of light' itself. It is very round: it does not look like the bottom of someone who is bending-over to study the crop nor lacing his shoes or nor doing his prayer. When you look well you can see a slight haze around the ball. This haze extends upward, slightly blurring the background.

Then I changed the exposure to -100.

Here I have left the exposure to -100 and enlarged the contrast to +33

Here I have blown up the image and highlighted the haze, coming from the ball. Notice the slightly blurred back-ground behind the haze and the discoloration.

I simply have no reason why I waited so long to publish this. Lazyness, doubt in the truth of this finding: I just don't know. What I do know is that I always think about this ball of light as being involved in the creation of this crop formation.
